MAINE AGAIN...

Image
It's been awhile... hope you are enjoying Fall. I am a bit behind on decorating. The grandsons are spending a few days with us. Lots of energy and noise and chaos. I tend to take it in stride, Roger not so much. I think that he is glad to be working all day with Mark (my son, his stepson). They are very busy winterizing swimming pools for Mark's many customers. MAINE IV Bridge from Mainland onto Little Deer Isle. What gorgeous picture taking weather! I did get back up to Maine finally. Our dog's surgery put my trip on hold for a month which means I didn't spend the 3 weeks I was hoping to but, hey, I'll take what I can get. I did enjoy wonderful weather, took lots of pictures and was able to fit in several happy lunches with various old friends. The Little Deer Isle Welcome Center! "My Island" Many moons ago my dad was very ill and while he was recovering he began to scheme and dream of what he would do when he got

EPHEMERAL MOMENTS OF TIME

Dog Days of Summer Rose of Sharon Mysti in her Summer coat. We have 3 dogs at our house. Loved, spoiled. They are just 3 in a long succession of many dogs that I have had over a period of 40 plus years. I have loved them all but of course it's the ones we have now that we love the most, at this moment in time.  Mysti is our 9 year old Belgian Tervuren.   She's a love to all who know her. SMART and obedient and loyal to her master, Roger. In fact I gave her to him as a wedding gift when we were married a little over 9 years ago. Lately we Live with a feeling of angst or trepidation. Afraid for her future. Some time ago she contracted Lime Disease. It showed up in blood work done as a routine work up before having her teeth cleaned. She was put on very expensive meds and has been on them ever since.  NOW she is becoming quite lame. Sometimes she can't get up onto her feet from a laying down position on her own.  It's heart breaking to watch her strug

SLIPPERY SLOPES

Hello there! So nice of you to visit. I haven't been up to much since being home from Maine.     Roger and I have had some discussions about selling our house and downsizing. We've even been looking at houses on the internet, talking to realtors,  and had our house appraised. It is certainly a buyer's market! We've gone to some open houses and realtors have shown us through several houses that we thought we might like but so far we have not seen anything that really rings our bell. It would require a LOT of work to sort through all we have accumulated through so many years. A house, 3 garages, 2 sheds and a full basement packed full!  And it is so overwhelming to even contemplate how we would go about accomplishing it that we keep shelving the inevitable until another day.         A SLIPPERY SLOPE     As my regular readers know, I have been feeling poorly for sometime now. I finally went to my family doc and complained again about tiredness, f

SUMMERTIME IN MAINE, PART III

I hope that you are not getting bored with an endless parade of Maine pictures but it sure beats all those pictures of snow that I was posting a few months ago! First I have to show you a picture of one of our cats. She was mousing in the back yard, which entails sitting for long periods of time ( I go away from window, do some chores, come back later and she is sitting in the exact same spot.) There have been a few times she has been successful and brought her tropies, still alive and kicking, (she does not kill mice), into the house via the cat door. I am not overly fond of mice running around in my house. If Roger is available he is immediately given the job of getting the "thing!" back outside. But, since he is busy this summer working with my son, I have had to do the job myself. And I do mean JOB! Have you ever tried to catch a mouse in your house?? First I open all the doors and chase the "thing" with a broom in the hopes it will find one of them. If that
