SPRING IS HERE! What a long Winter it was, so much snow both here and in Maine.   So much beauty surrounding our house, if you can look past the leaves that didn't get completely cleaned up last Fall.  Even inside the house. So, what's happening? As for me, I am trying to recover from a back injury and also some pelvic pain. Not doing much to be active, not that I am an active person in the best of health. I have hobbies that are conducive to weight gain. Reading, crocheting, watching my beloved murder mysteries on dvd, and playing around with my notebook computer. I also like to bird watch, which forces me to walk around with my binnos and a camera. Even if it is just around the house here and in Maine. I shot this picture of an oriole looking in the window at our budgies, Billy and Peggy.  I thought I would look back through my photo files and post a few from last year. Billy and Peggy.

Hi there! It's been a long time since we chatted! Hope all is well with you and yours.  I am still spending time on the Island with my Mom. She is not dealing very well with my Dad being in the Island Nursing Home-even though it has been well over a year now. Since I live in PA and she lives in ME it's not easy being her POA and Caregiver. Oh, well, it is what it is, right? There are definately perks to living this life style. One being the terrrific sunsets we have on Little Deer Isle nearly every day that we see the sun. Some are more spectacular then others.  This one was taken about 2 weeks ago. Here is another view of it. On a different day.  About a month ago we had three snow storms in the course of one week in Maine.  I did get a few pictures before the last one was over, from inside the house. The winds were fierce!  You can see that the snow was piling up in front of my little camper that I used to stay in during the summer bef

FALL 2016 Hi there! Happy Fall! I know that I have  not been around much these past 2 months. The summer just flew by and spending so much time traveling between Pennsylvania and Maine takes a lot out of me. I need time to recuperate from taking care of my parents, mostly my mom, dad's in a nursing home, which  I find exhausting so when I get back to PA I don't do much of anything for about a week. The second and last week I'm home I visit family, do shopping, and spend time with my fur babies and then catch up with social media. I have no internet service on the Island.  We have had lots of wind and rain both here and in Maine. I didn't take a lot of pictures but will show you what I did take on Little Deer Isle because I love our ocean views. Not a lot of excitement here in Bethlehem, looking very drab.  The causeway from Deer Isle to Little Deer Isle.  I stopped in the middle of the causeway to capture some of the Fall colors. DEER ISLE, MAINE  WHY I LIVE THERE PUMPKIN ISLAND LIGHTHOUSE Deer Isle Sedgwick Bridge One side of the Deer Isle Village. If you blink you miss it.  If you are wondering why most of my pictures have ocean scenes, it is because I live (2 weeks of every month) on an island connected to the mainland by a bridge. The group of islands; Little Deer Isle, Deer Isle, and Stonington, are about 10 miles in length and five miles at it's widest. I estimate about 5000 natives live on the islands year round. In the Summer there are many more as it's a very popular tourist destination. The Summers are beautiful but the winters can be harsh.  I am a native, I was born and raised there but left for college after graduating high school, left college after 2 years to get married and raise a family. We ultimately ended up in Pennsylvania in 1980 after living in Canada and moving back to the Island long enough for my husband to realized that he was v
