SPREADING THE LOVE

Image
CHRISTMAS CACTUS  Hello lovely friends everywhere! I love this illustration! It’s such a cozy scene if a bit confusing to look at with the green in the background and snow in the fore ground. We do not have snow. Maybe by Christmas. Here in Eastern PA we usually get our first snow later in the season, in January.  JOSHUA Our youngest grandchild is 14 today. This is a picture from 7 years ago. How fast they grow! He is a sweetheart still, though. Still shy, still loves putting things together. Since I am recovering from bronchitis we will not be celebrating his birthday together. After missing the last 5 years of his birthday I was looking forward to this year. He had requested dining at a Japanese restaurant. Roger sent his card and video game priority mail since in their area of the Pocono Mountains mail delivery is truly snail delivery! Hopefully a family Christmas will be possible.  I am slowly getting the tree decorated and Roger has put up wreaths and brought up more decorations f

GREETINGS!

Hello lovely people everywhere!  I hope that you are all well and reasonably happy at this time of the year. The biggest joy being the celebration of the birth of our Lord and Savior!  You who visit me might wonder where I disappeared to. Well, a number of reasons.  I have been unwell since coming home from Maine. Really not my no nonsense self. I laughingly refer to it in one of my blogs as trying to find myself again after being mostly absent for 5 years. In Maine we would describe it as trying to find our sea legs again. A popular catch phrase meaning trying to find balance, a feeling of eptitude or getting rid of motion sickness. If I’m truthful with you I found my biggest challenge was finding my comfort zone here at home. Roger was so used to having complete control here at home and living by himself that for quite awhile I felt like a visitor trying to blend in and not make waves.  For the past 10 days I have had the cold from hell.  I am slowly improving but my lungs are stil

KEEPING CALM

Hello dear ones! It's Thursday. 45 degrees. Sunny. Life is good for me at the moment. I hope that those of you visiting me can say the same.   My biggest challenge is finding a cleaning lady OR updating my camera. I can't have both. Despite the fact I am on the cusp of being an old lady I find I am reliving my past in some aspects of my life. Back in the day it was all about choices…do I go to the movies or buy a movie star magazine. Moving on to- Can I afford to buy myself that lovely blouse when a daughter would love those jeans she's wants desperately. Then: How can we possibly afford a new car until both kids are through college. And, Let's buy the grands new computers, we can go on vacation anytime. Choices, always choices. And the older I get the more I want to buy the best. After all, I think, the purchase of this particular item could be my last. Case in point, I sent my old but comfortable sofa to be re-upholstered. (Why does that word not look right?) I didn&#

IF YOU APPRECIATE WHAT YOU HAVE YOU WILL NEVER WANT FOR MORE

Hello dear ones! I hope you are well. I thought it time for a little update however mundane it might be. The good news is that my favorite month of the whole year has finally shown it's face in our little valley.   Here in Pennsylvania we are finally able to open our windows and doors to sunshine and pleasant days. No more heat and humidity. Goodby Rose of Sharon beauty, hello Burning Bush. I have been two weeks putting this post together so forgive me if it is a bit disjointed. I haven’t taken many photos either. But, here goes… CATS, VLOGS, BOOKS, LIFE IN GENERAL I am SO happy to be able to get outside once again. I am trying to get back into walking. I do miss the years of walking dogs. We are now down to one dog and she has severe arthritis in her hips. She sits at the bottom of our drive waiting  for me to return from my walk. I lavish way too much attention on her and consequently she  very definitely has ME trained! We have always had at least 2 rescue dogs and several adopt

ALL THINGS BRIGHT AND BEAUTIFUL

Hello dear bloggy friends! You might ask: “where DOES she come up with the titles for her blog??”  The simple answer is that they just pop into my mind randomly and I say to myself “that would make a nice title for a blog post” and voila! here I am. Having said that I must tell you that it is 6:03 on a Monday morning and I am still in bed. I am writing this on my iPad after being awoken when Roger got up to let Lucy outside to wee and in her exuberance after coming back inside she ran up her little stairs to the bed and  said good morning by panting out dog food breath all over my face and then climbing on my stomach with her little wet feet! to wait for the usual endearments. She has since gone back to sleep in her spot at the foot of the bed but I am now wide awake…listening to the blue jays making an awful racket outside my open window, literally screaming at each other and two thoughts go through my mind…”noise pollution”and “all things bright and beautiful” and stuck there until
