THROUGH MY WINDOWS

  Hello!  Lucy says WELCOME! I hope that you are enjoying the beauty that surrounds those of us that are enjoying cooler weather and the changing colors of FALL. I think that across the pond it is called Autumn, I call it both.  My family’s surname is Eaton and our roots began in England. A few traditions were passed down and remain today.  One being our love of brewed tea. In fact, I am enjoying a cup right now. Roger is watching football. It’s 6 PM and dusk is upon us already. I love these early days. I have my pjs on, and my iPods in, 2 dogs sharing my easy chair with me.  I have waited all Summer for these cozy evenings. I think I mentioned in my last post that I have figured out finally that I suffer from SAD-seasonal affective disorder or, in my case, summer season depression. I function much better in the Fall, Winter, and Spring.  That’s not to say my life is all hunky dory, I’m just not feeling depressed and oppressed.   Hello from sunny Bethlehem in the northeastern part of Pennsylvania. I hope you are all well. I am feeling very much better these days. This is my favorite time of year.After days of needed rain we are enjoying this lovely day. I intend to get out and walk walk, walk today.  Besides working on cleaning up on our back patio, I have been working on knitting a pair of Magic Heel Socks, reading  and watching an Italian series, (with English subtitles) called BULLET PROOF HEART. I enjoyed it so much! Roger hates subtitles but I don't mind. I often watch MHz Choice which is all subtitles.  Last week I visited my daughter in the Poconos. Her family is visiting grandparents in Florida, yes, during the time when IAN was going crazy there. They are all fine. The relatives live in Navarre and that area of the panhandle didn’t get hit very hard. My daughter who just returned from the Island in Maine, and who doesn't travel well elected to stay home with the pets and some much needed rest

  WELCOME! And hello! I have been missing in action and I apologize to my faithful readers. I guess the major reason is that I have been in a slump. Summers are my least favourite season. As I get older my SAD, but in my case I have a problem with too much light, has become more intense unfortunately. But, now that cooler temps are here and shorter days I am enjoying the cozy evenings. I have started going for walks again and become less of a recluse.  There's  nothing I can do about it but just accept it and endure. The leaves are changing here but after our dry summer I'm not sure what our foliage this year will be like. My daughter lives in the Poconos and time will tell whether it will be beautiful or blah. Our trees on our land are making me happy especially with a blue sky. We have a lot of young Cardinals on our property. And the birds are eating us out of house and home.   Hello dear readers! I hope you are well. It's Monday here. 10:15 in the morning. August 15th. I am counting the days until September. In my mind that month means Summer is over. I am making plans to head back to the Island. (Maine) There's still a lot of work to be done at the Homestead aka Mom's house. I hope to be there for most of the month but we shall see. I'm happy to report that we have our air conditioning working. August 1st, 2nd, and 3rd were a bit chaotic with 4 workman all over the place. I had to make sure I was up and dressed by 7:30, a definite hardship for me! They completely cleared out the old units, we have two  CA units one does the top two floors and the other does the bottom two floors. And a heat pump. So, that's why it was so expensive. I thought once we had a cooler house I would have a lot more get up and go but, sadly, that was wishful thinking. I am trying to keep ahead of the housework but there are days I sit and knit listening to boo

  Hello and HAPPY SUNDAY! I hope you are well and surviving the oppressive heat and humidity that has consumed us in such an uncomfortable way in the northern hemisphere. I guess we complain  about the heat and bugs every year but, of all the seasons, I really struggle with Summer. I love the beauty of it but it really does something to the chemistry in my brain because I find myself hibernating and wishing for Fall…and less light and sunshine. Weird but true. I think there’s a syndrome regarding my unease but I really haven’t researched it. Anyway, today it’s hovering yet again around 98 degrees with no rain in sight. I feel for our local farmers. Roger has signed a contract to have our central heating replaced some weeks ago but the crew won’t be here until August. So, right now our upstairs is as hot as the outside. Thankfully, our downstairs is still being cooled. The problem with a large rambling 4000 sq foot house 🏡 is it’s a bugger to keep heated and cooled. Of course, another

 Hello dear readers! The above photo is lovely…I did not take it. It reminded me of how our cardinals and deer enjoy our blueberries from our one bush every year before we think to check if they are ripe. I hope you are well. It’s hot here, very humid, a typical summer for us in eastern Pennsylvania.I have a love hate relationship with Summer. I mostly stay inside but do venture out with the dogs most every day, late afternoon, to sit under the shade trees and knit or read. I took these in June when I was there with daughter and grandsons. We were there for 2 weeks to work on the OLD HOMESTEAD but since my daughter rarely travels these days we tried to sight-see as much as possible. June is Lupine Festival time on Deer Isle in Maine.
