NOSTALGIA

Hello! I hope you are all well and reasonably happy with your life in our new normal. I have been stuck in the house forever it seems due to staying safe and the oppressive heat. Pennsylvania has reached 121,000 positive cases. I'm not sure about the local tally but I do know it is in the thousands.  Well, today I am going to get a teeny tiny bit sentimental. I'm really not the sentimental type. But... Do you get nostalgic for the past? I don't mean the recent past before Corvid. I mean looking waaaay back. I recently came across some pictures on the internet that took me back to when my parents first started their restaurant. It was a brain egg of my father's hatched while he was recovering from an illness, around 1960, I guess. The Island in Maine where I grew up was and is very touristy from Memorial Day to Labor Day. My dad, a fisherman but ever the entrepreneur,  came up with the idea of having a little "hotdog stand" built on my grandparent's propert

AFTER THE STORM

IASIAS Hello dear ones, it's me again.  We are a bit weather worn here at Deer Haven.  The tropical storm we had a couple of days ago left us soggy and beaten up a bit. We had flooding for about four hours that was unbelievable at the time it was happening. Roger worked like an idiot trying to keep the water out of the family room. It had run down our driveway like a tidal wave and flooded our garage and walkway into the house. If you have been reading my blog you will know what I mean by walkway because I posted pictures of it a few posts ago. The clean up was a bummer.  We have been very busy!  Yesterday we received more rain! Today I walked around the house to assess the damage done to my beloved Rose of Sharon and butterfly bushes. I took a multitude of pictures because you just never know from day to day what is going to happen weatherwise around here. Our little town of Hellertown just five minutes from our house had lots of flooding and damage. It was closed off to the pub

A RIGHT NOW THING

Hello there dear friends! I hope this post finds you enjoying the beauty of Summer. Even though we are mostly confined to our immediate family and surroundings, still, or are mostly on the inside looking out due to endless days of heat, humidity and nothing inbetween! We will choose  beauty and the love we have for each other.  We can see it, touch it, feel it. I am so thankful that I live where I do! I just can't imagine how awful it must be for those living amidst lawlessness! My time since I last wrote has been mostly tied up with medical appointments. The appointments themselves, not an issue,  but the parking and walking, very much so. We have huge hospital complexes here. The one closest to me is St Luke's Bethlehem Campus. This is what it looks like. As the crow flies it is about 5-10 minutes from my house. Traffic lights, well, add another 5-10 minutes.😏   I headed out the other day to have an xray of my knee and some lab work done. For this I nee
