THROUGH MY WINDOWS

HOME SWEET HOME I have been back in Pennsylvania for a few weeks now. We have gone through a metamorphosis since my arrival; bleak to beautiful! Well, maybe not yet but we are getting there. I brought snow with me from Maine but it didn't last long and then about a week or so ago, Spring finally arrived and so far this is the result... I came home from Mom's very tired and not feeling very well. It was a long hard Winter there on the Island in Maine. I was glad that at 91 Mom was not on her own.  And we were very blessed to have a whole-house generator so that despite 4 Nor'easter snowstorms we were always warm, safe, and emergency free. Mom seems to be doing quite well health wise right now, finally! She misses Dad, is lonely at times, feels like she doesn't have a reason to get up in the morning and is her usual anxious self, worrying about everything, but that is just Mom.  So, I decided to come home for 6 weeks to go to my doctors,

Tomorrow I leave the Island and head home to PA. Aside from a few niggles of worry about Mom I am looking forward to reuniting with my family and pets. It's been a long 5 weeks of Winter Nor'easters, 4 in total. I am ready for milder temps and the beginnings of Spring colors to emerge all around our house there. Our Spring emergence is always advanced by at least a month to that of the Island here in Maine. We call our 2 acres "Deer Run" because we are down in a little valley from the road and secluded by a circle of trees and overgrowth that allow for a variety of wildlife to also call it home. All the properties in the development are 2 acres or more but we have more privacy. Roger feeds the deer and they show up faithfully every day for their evening meal. The best part is when the Bambies start to arrive and show up in June  with their mothers.  Today though I am in packing mode and doing last minute things.  It entails loading all my clothes and Winter parapher

Maine Lighthouses And Coastal Ripples Hello There!  Portland Head Light Portland, Maine Maine's most popular and most photographed lighthouse in the country. It was commissioned  by George Washington. My sister-in-law, Jean, has a wonderful hobby: Photography. She is SO good 👍 at it! Through the years She has perfected both her skill and her knowledge of cameras, lens, etc.  A little while ago I asked her if she had any pictures of lighthouses in the Portland area. She was kind enough to allow me to use some of her images. Ram Light Off Portland head. It has a 72 foot granite tower. Spring Ledge Light Easily accessible by the granite  breakwater and visited by people from all over the World. It, like Portland Head, is a working Light House.
