SMALL THINGS BECOME BIG THINGS

๐ŸŒธ The best climate is found in the state of Contentment. (Basford)๐ŸŒธ

Walker’s Pond is still frozen over.

Hello dear bloggy friends. I hope you are well and reasonably content. Today is St Patrick’s day.

I made a trip off the Island today to Ellsworth. We have a heat wave, high forties with sunshine. Two days ago we had temps in the single digits. On my way off the Island I saw people buzzing like bees on their properties shifting their lobster gear around getting ready for a new season. I stopped to take a picture of this lobster boat.

I headed across the bridge and stopped to look back toward the Island, you can see the bridge in the distance.

In the little town of Surry I took my life in my hands when I stopped on a busy road to take these pictures of the stream where my father used to catch “elwives”, a type of fish used for bait in lobster traps. I took some video of the rushing water but, alas, couldn’t get it to upload to the blog. Bummer.

I did my shopping in the little city of Ellsworth then I stopped off at Helen’s Restaurant. I had promised Mom I would pick her up a brisket (boiled dinner) in honor of St Patrick’s day. A traditional meal for her and Dad since they both have Irish blood, be it ever so far removed. I ordered myself fried Smelts. A seasonal delicacy to this area in early Spring.

Then I headed for home. By the time I arrived I had been gone for 5 hours. I had shopped at Home Depot and a “junky”store called Marden’s.  I spent most of my time there waiting in line in the fabric department for my background fabric for my upcoming punch needle and rug hooking projects. Marden's has the best prices for quality fabric and yarn.

A big plus of my day was the reopening of the Goodwill in Ellsworth. I was finally able to unload the boxes and bags that have been in the back seat of my car for months. I was sooo glad to get rid of them!๐Ÿ‘
This blog post has brought to mind how much my life has changed. The little things in my life previously not worth a detailed post has become a big happening in my day. Unbelievable!

Tomorrow we are expecting up to a couple of inches of snow.  But, nothing can discourage me now, It’s official on Saturday-SPRING IS HERE! Soon I will see yellows and greens and purples coloring my corner of the universe. I am so thankful for my many blessings!❤️

๐ŸŒธAnd there you have it!๐ŸŒธ

Take good care of yourselves,
Susan

  4. The ice is melting, the buds are on the trees, and we look forward to spring. But still, I felt like I had to go put on a sweater after seeing the pond and the stream and the beautiful but barren landscape.
