WORKING VACATION
Hello dear bloggy friends! Can you guess where I am? If you guessed Maine you are so right! My daughter and two grandsons are here with me. We arrived a couple of days ago. We spent a couple of days in Wells, Maine on the way. It rained the whole time we were there and cleared the day we traveled to the Island but rained two days after we arrived. Today was gorgeous. A lovely sunset behind the Lighthouse.
The following photos were taken in York, Maine. Nubble Light House with Fox’s Lobster House next door where we enjoyed lunch. I bought two beautiful pairs of earrings at the Lighthouse Gift Shop. Grandson Joshua loved running across the top of the rocks.
There’s lots to do here. My daughter, Judi, put the two teens to work so cupboards were painted and old things replaced with new…shower head, more towel racks, and the list goes on. A dump run was made and ice cream cones and sundaes enjoyed at the drive-in on the way back up the island. We hope to head for Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park next week.
The downside of this visit is that shingles were blown off the garage roof during the Winter, the lawn mower won’t start and all three garage doors won’t open. The house was covered in mouse droppings so we had to give the whole house a thorough cleaning. No one wanted to eat or sleep upon arrival until it was done so we didn’t turn in until after midnight! The next day was wind and rain…

I am loving the salty air and the ever moving ocean. It was hard leaving home in Pennsylvania, especially my pets but now that I’m settled in with my family I am not anxious to leave anytime soon. The garage repairman is coming on Tuesday so after that we have to get in there and start the dastardly job of cleaning it out. I know that it will take a lot of work and hours but we can at least make a good size dent in it before we have to leave on the 20th.
And there you have it,
thanks so much for dropping by.
I have been reading your blogs as I wait to be taken in for appts.
But more about that later. It’s another day now, they are flying by.
We are heading out this morning for Stonington Harbor to celebrate a birthday.
The day looks to be lovely…68 degrees and sunshine so far.
Much love,
Susan

Ahh, you are in my favorite state--of course I never spent a winter there. That sunset was amazing. Sounds like you have a busy time ahead. Hope you find time to play.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos. You have a lot of hard work to do but you'll get there and you enjoy some relaxation too.
ReplyDeleteAwww, that little fawn is so cute. It sounds like you've got some hard work ahead of you, but it's always made easier in beautiful surroundings. Don't forget to take some time to relax in amongst all the chores.
ReplyDeleteIt is good to see you again! How wonderful that you can travel with family again and go to Maine, such a special place for your family. When the work is done, you’ll enjoy it there, I’m sure!

I would love to visit Maine...it looks so beautiful. Your pictures are like looking through a magazine.
ReplyDeleteIt’s good that you have family members to help with what is certainly a difficult and somewhat sad task, Susan. And, despite all the work projects, you are able to get out and enjoy things together. We will be in Brunswick and Belfast, Maine, in mid-July and looking forward to the visit.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the kind words you left on my blog, Susan. I really appreciate them from you since I admire your blog so much. Marie
ReplyDeleteOh,I do wonder about the appts...I hope nothing too stressful. Oh,what a mess mice can make. We never have them with cats, but a time or two when we were cat free, I had one...not fun.
