NOVEMBER IS ALL ABOUT THANKFULNESS

Beautiful night skies...

 Thirty days of Thankfulness

I had every intention of posting every day during November, to list one thing that I am thankful for, and I am 5 days behind already. 😢 But, no matter. 😊

November 1st was Sunday. Roger and I went out for a late breakfast after church and my pastor and a friend showed up at the same restaurant, joined us at our table. I am thankful for the friendship and fellowship we have with our busy pastor.

November 2nd. I started a deep clean in our bedroom. I am thankful for the motivation to start this long overdue project.

We used to have a cleaning lady, she worked for Roger and his late wife for 5 years and Roger and I for almost 15 years. Since she left about a year ago, basic cleaning happens but nothing nitty gritty. I procrastinate until I can't stand it any longer and then feel overwhelmed.

I have been reading  a very inspirational blog, "What's new at my house" about habits. I need to develop a habit of daily cleaning so that I don't become overwhelmed with the fact that the whole house could use a good going over.πŸ˜“It's just a matter of sticking with it until it becomes a habit! Easy, right? Of course, I already have a habit: why do today what I can put off until tomorrow.😌

Habits

Your beliefs become your thoughts.
Your thoughts become your words.
Your words become your actions.
Your actions become your habits.
Your habits become your values
And your values become your destiny.
Ghandi

November 3rd. Our cold temperatures flip flopped and we enjoyed lovely mild weather! Thankful for leaves still attached to trees.

November 4th. Mild weather prevailed as I loaded my car with about 100 books from bookcases in our bedrooms headed for a charity shop. The relief I felt of finally letting go of books I brought with me when I married Roger 15 years ago was immense. I am so thankful for my Kindle!

November 5th. Roger is still working so I will  remain in Bethlehem awhile longer. I am so grateful to my mother's carer for taking such good care of her while I have been at home these past 5 months.πŸ˜‡πŸ˜‡πŸ˜‡πŸ˜‡πŸ˜‡πŸ˜‡πŸ˜‡πŸ˜‡πŸ˜‡πŸ˜‡

November 6th. Today is another lovely day! I hope to get my bedroom project finished up today. I had a sleepless night  due to chocolate bingeing on leftover Halloween candy, and a bit of anxiety over election results. As a conservative I can only wonder what the future will be like for our nation. But God is in control and I hold on to that anchor. So thankful for my faith.

To be continued...

  4. What a great idea, Susan, and despite your concern about starting late, it’s never too late, and you made a great catch-up post. You are so right that despite everything, there is so much to be thankful for every day. Kudos to you for that wonderful donation of books and I hear you about the joys of e-books and Kindle. The oast months, my older read has been serving me well too. The remaining fall colors look wonderful. Cleaning and reorganizing is always a relief when all done. Safe travels when you do leave for New England.

  5. What a lovely thankful list. I understand the relief you feel getting rid of a bunch of books. I've gotten rid of so many in recent years, yet I look at my shelves and I suspect I'd enjoy the relief you're feeling now if I just culled through them yet again. Going to check out the What's New At My House blog. Habits are my downfall. Or, I guess I should say my lack of good solid habits...

  6. I was watching my dvd of Charlie brown's thanksgiving today...lol. I hope you have a safe trip when you do go up to new england. And enjoy caring for your mom. Just keep up the hope for our country and praying. It's in God's hands for sure. Many people are living in darkness to what holiness and virtue is these days. Andrea

  7. It is so hard for me to believe you have been home 5 months. I liked your thankfulness list. I really need to do some deep cleaning, too. I have gotten rid of almost all the books I can bare to part with. Like you, I am so thankful for my kindle. But I have maybe a dozen books that I have both kindle and hard copy, and few more I wish I could find for the kindle.
