He is Risen and We are Blessed

Image
Hello dear friends everywhere. Happy Easter! Christ is Risen! I’m writing this on Easter morning. It’s a beautiful Spring day here in Eastern Pennsylvania. Lucy woke me up the usual time, sevenish, wanting to go out and to be fed breakfast. She can be very vocal! Buddy, Quiseppe (aka Zeppe), Nika, and our outside feral cat, Rascal, crawl out of their respective areas of choice, take care of business and join the line up in the kitchen to have their morning love greetings and breakfast…provided by a very groggy yours truly. I look at them and my heart overflows with love. How blessed Roger and I are to have these little ones to wake up to, to have  the freedom to go to church today without a mask and pew spacing or, that our church, our homes might be bombed…and life as we knew it is no more. Then I step outside to the back patio and breathe in the fresh morning air holding a lovely cup of hot tea. I tell myself that this is going to be a day of celebration and not to mess up ...

WATER LILIES

Image
Hello lovely friends! Today’s post is inspired by Monet’s series of paintings, Water Lilies. I read in my Daily Bread this morning that he ‘created them to depict the serenity of the flowers in his backyard pond to give viewers “an asylum of peaceful meditation”…after the ravages of WWI.’ (The reading went on to talk about Paul in Ephesians 2.) Water lilies! How pretty they are!  That led me to change my wallpaper and search through my photos for water lilies and pond scenes depicting peace and serenity. Sadly there was a definite dearth of said photos. These are them. (Lots of peaceful ocean scenes in my archives though.) It went on to say that while he was painting the series he seldom felt at peace. Wind blew his canvases away and road dust settled on the lilies. He stomped on the canvases and cut them up and started over time and again in frustration. He said that he suffered agonies when he painted them. So, the peace we feel when we look at them came at a cost to him. ...

UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL

Image
I can't remember the name! Dear bloggy friends, hello! I am sitting in my easy chair, with a giant cup of tea. The day is overcast. We’ve had rain. The temps are in the high 50’s F and the birds are singing and chirping, all is peaceful in my little space right now. Roger has gone out to breakfast with  a pal. Buddy and Lucy are sharing my chair as usual so it’s a tight fit. I hear the cat flap so I know that Zeppe is either coming from or going out into the humongous fenced yard/garden that has a bit of everything that might interest him…trees, bird feeders, bushes, shrubs, you get the picture. I don’t have to worry about him. He is our special needs cat. He has one working ear and eye and a twisted jaw all caused by being run into by a car when he was a kitten, before we adopted him from the shelter. Our miracle cat. To look at him you would never know he had disabilities.  Buddy on one side Lucy on the other side of me Zeppe, living in a secure environment  I have been...

UKRAINE: HEAVY ON OUR MINDS

Image
Hello dear friends! 💖 I hope you are well. It’s 19 degrees F here. It was only days ago that the temps hit 70 and silly people had shorts on! Yesterday we had a snow storm with bitter winds to make it feel like we were in Siberia.   Speaking of which, it is unbelievable what Putin is doing in the Ukraine.  Our hearts go out to those people who are not in safe places right now.  If, by chance there is a victim (s) reading this…WHEREVER you are in the world if you are caught up in conflict or war please know that we are thinking of you and we  pray that you have found safe havens. Sitting here drinking my tea, it all seems surreal what is happening elsewhere in the world.  I hope that the rest of us looking on feeling helpless will do whatever we can to support them in whatever ways available to us. I have bought patterns, yarn, and other craft items from Ukraine businesses on Etsy. I don’t expect to hear from them but at least they have money going into t...

THINKING SPRING and MOURNING

Image
Hello dear bloggy friends! It’s a lovely SPRING like day here so I thought it time I changed my blog wallpaper from snow to flowers. Lilacs no less. I need color! I am hopeful that we will see something popping up through the ground soon. Crocuses usually show their faces in March here.  So, what’s new with you? I must admit I am finding life a bit stressful these days. Heartbreakingly so when I think about the Ukrainian people. There are no words I can think of to express the fear, despair, and loss those poor people must be feeling. So, if you have it in your heart to pray, now is the time to do it. 💗 It seems like reality is impossible to handle these days. What else is on our horizon…first Covid and now war. Staying close to God is the only way forward, at least that is the way I choose to deal with it.  What else can we do but hope and pray? Hitler is not dead, just reincarnated. I guess you can tell I am out of patience. More on that later…in the meantime I am ...

HOW MANY CARDINALS CAN YOU COUNT?

Image
Hello dear bloggy friends! It's been awhile, hasn't it, but I am well and hope you are also. It's a sunny day here but only 23 degrees. We've had it bitter cold this winter. And, according to my weekly heating bills so has the island in Maine at my house that I inherited from my mother last year.. The price of gas heat is exorbitant!  Here in Pennsylvania there's not much going on. I continue to hibernate unless we meet up with my daughter and her family at a restaurant but the Poconos where she lives is even more Arctic so that doesn't happen often. She has lung issues so has to stay inside when it's bitter cold. We do have snow but with our sunny days it has diminished somewhat from the 6 inches we received less than a week ago. Frozen snow now. I was talking to my daughter, Judi, yesterday and she asked me if I was bored. I answered, BORED? No. I'm not bored. I have this big ole house and lots of hobbies. And both Roger aka Himself and I are Winter ...

PIE IN THE SKY

Image
Hello everyone! It's a cold but sunny day here, temps in single digits. 8:45 AM. Tomorrow I dig out of hibernation to visit my orthopedic doctor for an injection in my knee. I had my last one about a year ago and it's time.  THOUGHTS  I read an interesting blog post this morning from THE LOW CARB DIABETIC about getting enough vitamin D in winter. Funnily, (I think I just made that word up), I haven't thought much about it.  We have a cupboard full of vitamins. Roger is a collector.  Especially if there's a 2 for 1 sale going on at the pharmacy.  I take an individual packet of 5 vitamins everyday if I think about it. My daughter sent me a parcel of get well goodies when I was sick and a box of vitamins in packets was included. Remembering is the problem. So I have a candy dish filled with them on my hobby table beside my comfy chair in the living room. I labeled my post "Pie in the sky" because another blogger who is struggling with  heart issues talke...
